Foro Consultivo sobre biotecnología UE- EEUU

Ayer tuvo lugar en Bruselas la primera reunión del Foro Consultivo EEUU-UE. Este Foro, formado por eminentes científicos y expertos se creó a raíz de la reunión entre el Presidente de la Comisión Europea, Romano Prodi y el presidente Clinton en Portugal, en mayo pasado; un poco para dar algún paso, aunque sea solo la creación de un foro meramente consultivo, para ver si se podía desbloquear el conflictivo asunto de los OGM, que amenaza con constituir un grave problema comercial.

El Foro tiene la misión de asesorar a las autoridades de Estados Unidos y la unión Europea sobre los riesgos y beneficios de la biotecnología bajo todos los puntos de vista (salud, seguridad, desarrollo económico, medioambiente..).

- Måns Lönnroth, Ph.D., Managing Director of MISTRA, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research and former State Secretary at the Swedish Ministry of the Environment.
